BusinessPort

BusinessPort stands for competence or corporate. It connects innovative corporate projects and students, which allows them to gain valuable experience and expertise for their CV while still doing their studies. Companies are turning to BusinessPort with a specific assignment of either a pilot project, an innovative project or even a standard supply project in the area of information technology, finance, marketing and statistics. BusinessPort announces the opening of job positions for students who want to get involved in working on these corporate projects. Eventually, teams of enrolled students will be created to execute the assignment and to communicate with the company. The current BusinessPortT job offers are here.

Competency Centres & projects of interest
BusinessPort builds on collaboration between students and companies that has been operating at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics since 2012. This cooperation takes the form of so-called "competency centres". Their goal is to make current students work on real projects for companies, while they have significant support from organizations that possess top information technologies.

The link between students and companies is as follows. A group of students chooses a topic related to the activities of the company that is supporting the competency centre. Students and teachers subsequently learn how to work with the modern IT technologies of that company which before long assigns their pilot project. If both sides are satisfied with the course of collaboration, the group of students and teachers will continue to cooperate with the company on longer-term projects.

Currently, there are five active centres operating at the university. All centres work closely with national and multinational companies.

  • Retail Analytics (Savoir-faire, Marketing Institute, Apios, HP, Mall, Commercial Bank)
  • Collaboration Solutions (IBM)
  • Software Quality Assurance
  • Open Data
  • Healthcare (MSD IT Global Innovation Centre)

Commercial projects in cooperation with companies
In addition to the competency centres, BusinessPort offers companies cooperation on specific projects. It is about real customer projects that are assigned to the teams made of students of Competency Centres and other specialists.
